ALDI

Have you ever heard of ALDI?

I am so excited to have discovered ALDI! I read about ALDI over at Menus4Moms.
I was reading that one mom spends $250 to $300 a month for her grocery needs by doing most of her shopping at ALDI for her family of five. So I hopped over to their website and I was really excited to see what I found. They are kind of like a mini Sam's Club. You pay a quarter to get your cart at the front of the store, but you get it back when you put your cart back (fun thing for the kids in tow). You should bring your own bags for bigger savings or else you will be charged a nominal fee for paper or plastic. You can also use the boxes they have available for free for your bigger items. They have their own brand name items, and they come with a double your money back guarantee. On most Items you can save $1.00 or more over the grocery store price. Bread at .59 cent! I can dig that!!!
ALDI only accepts cash, debit, or Food Stamps. This cuts down on the costs as well. They do not accept coupons, but the savings outweighs that, I believe-from what I see. The check out is suppose to be quick, so be prepared( that is a plus for me).
I was navigating the website and signed up for a newsletter, and access to the Meal planner. You can find recipes, put them in "your" cookbook and transfer the ingredients to a shopping list that is organized by isles!
I am planning on visiting ALDI in the next 2 weeks and checking it all out!

Club Coupon said...: We have an Aldi here in Lex. and I have been once. I was very impressed with how clean it was and selection for the style store wasn't bad either. I usually love their pricing on their produce too. However, it is several miles from the area of town I live in so it's not really a savings for me to get to. Definitions, Abbreviations and "Coupon Talk"

BOGO or B1G1 or B1G1F = "Buy One Get One Free" - a sales promotion in which you buy a first item and get the second item for free (or in some stores, you may buy each item at half price, this depends on your store's policy -- ask).
Circular = "Coupon Circular/ Insert/ Booklet" - these are the coupon booklets found in your Sunday newspaper, several companies print these booklets including SmartSource, Valassis, Proctor & Gamble, Kelloggs, etc. (also see definition for: insert)
Couponing = used as a verb, a term used to refer to the practice of using coupons when shopping.
Cpn = Coupon
ECBs = "Extra Care Bucks" - the CVS drugstore, loyalty-card holder program's rewards. These are money-back reimbursements found at the end of the CVS receipt after paying for an item.
EP = "End Price" - the final price after all coupons, sales, discounts, etc.
Extra Care Booklet = the CVS booklet (printed monthly) that tells loyalty-card holders which CVS in-store products will earn loyalty-card holders Extra Care Bucks (ECBs). (also see definition for: ECBs)
FAR = "Free After Rebate" - term referring to an item that is paid for upfront, but has a Mail-In Rebate (MIR), which once redeemed makes the item free. (also see definition for: MIR)
Filler = used as a noun, a term used to refer to an item that is purchased to create a total needed to use a coupon or get the most of an advertised deal. They are usually the cheapest items in the store that help.
Insert = "Coupon Insert/ Circular/Booklet" - these are found in your Sunday newspaper, several companies print these booklets including SmartSource, Valassis, Proctor & Gamble, Kelloggs, etc. (also see definition for: circular)
KG = "Kelloggs" - used to refer to a coupon insert/booklet printed in Sunday newspapers and the company that prints these inserts/booklets.
LP = "List Price" - the price on the shelf or advertised price for an item.
MC = "Manufacturer Coupon" - these are coupons distributed by product manufacturers to consumers.
MIR = "Mail-In Rebate" - a type of cash refund in which you purchase and item, THEN mail/email/electronically send the manufacturer your receipt, Proof of Purchase/ UPC code on the packaging & a form with your name & address, THEN 4-8 weeks later (typically) you receive a check from the manufacturer reimbursing you for the price of the item.
OOP = "Out Of Pocket" - a term referring to how much actual cash is spent for a purchase.
Overage OR ovg. = term that refers to the money that is credited to your total bill amount in excess of what a single item costs.
P or IPC= "Internet Printable" or "Internet Printable Coupon" - these are coupons that can be printed from the internet using your home printer. They can usually be printed from manufacturer or manufacturer sponsored websites on the internet.
Peelie = a coupon that is attached to an item in the store .
PG = "P&G Brandsaver" OR "Proctor & Gamble Brandsaver" - used to refer to a coupon insert/booklet printed in Sunday newspapers and the company that prints these inserts/booklets.
Q or Qs = "Coupon" or "Coupons"
RP = "RedPlum" - used to refer to a coupon insert/booklet printed in Sunday newspapers and the company that prints these inserts/booklets.
SS = "SmartSource" - used to refer to a coupon insert/booklet printed in Sunday newspapers and the company that prints these inserts/booklets.
wyb = "When You Buy..." - used to indicate a deal/promotion in which a certain number of items must be purchase to get a discount, gift reward, etc.
